Planting Ginger Roots from Store

Can ginger roots sold at grocery stores be planted? If so, what kind of soil should I use?

If the roots are fresh and have not been treated to delay sprouting, then yes you can plant them. Plant in tropical plant soil, well-drained, but fairly rich and water retentive.
