I am curious about the use of mexican marigold as a weed control. Can it be mowed? Can it become a noxious weed on its own account? I am doing research for a friend who wants to control Spanish Mustard on a horse farm in Tucson, Arizona.
Mexican marigold has been recommended for control of invasive perennial plants such as goutweed or ground elder. It is a giant, growing in excess of 2 metres (6 feet), so it certainly does not lend itself to mowing.
It is also highly effective against nematodes. It is for this use that it has become well known known in recent years.
