Thyme for Irritable Bowel?

I would like to know how thyme tea would effect an irritable colon.

Factors involved in an irritable colon (bowel) include anxiety, food allergies (dairy products being a common allergen), parasites, and a bowel that is more sensitive than normal.
Thyme tea likely has little or no effect on the colon, because the beneficial effects are mainly in the plant's essential oils, which would dissipate before reaching the colon. Thyme tea is used mainly to alleviate the effects of respiratory disease.
Thyme is antispasmodic, so may have a mild effect in reducing colon spasms. Thyme is also anti-parasitic, so may have a very mild effect at discouraging parasites if parasites are a factor in the cause of this case of irritable bowel.
