Are there Herbs that Block the Sense of Taste?

Is there an herb that will block or diminish the sense of taste between the tongue and the brain?

Gymnema sylvestre, prepared as a tea, impairs the ability to taste sugar by blocking sweet receptors on the tongue. It is used for this purpose in weight loss and diabetes. I don't know of any other herbs that block the sense of taste.
